Arizona Cultural Event

Wednesday, April 26, 2017 – Navajo hand crafted jewelry, cultural costumes and dancers, original music and aficionados of the west came together in a showcase performance of Southwest heritage at the VI at Silverstone.

Members of the Heard Museum and residents of VI were invited to a special showing of one-of-a kind artfully skilled pieces of art – from carved Hopi carved katsina dolls by Ryon Polequaptewa to exquisite Navajo jewelry designed by Nanibaa Beck.

Guests were treated to an afternoon of experience and education complete with roving models wearing American Indian jewelry provided by the Heard Museum Shop. Artifacts from the gifted artisans, as well as beautifully demonstrated musical instruments native to the Southwestern heritage brought the Vi alive with sights, sounds and colors born from the artistry of the Sonoran desert. Vibrant feather adorned Native American dancers performed to the sounds of bells and drum beats depicting the spirits of performance and dance.

“We are very pleased to have been invited to participate with the iconic Heard Museum and VI at Silverstone. The Heard is one of the premier museums in the world – dedicated to preserving the culture and artifacts of the past. VI at Silverstone is an exceptional luxury experience for senior living – both coming together to preserve and share the essence of the Southwest heritage.” Explained Sandy Hudson, President and CEO of TrustBank Arizona.
